So that you love me again, accept love, hope and loss. The theme of first rejections, first heartbreaks, this song is an all-time classic. A woman ready for anything cries out to bring her love back. Her song reveals an almost Faustian, Orphic, obsessional thinking. And she touches upon a greater set of ideas, about attachment, power, enduring love, the opinion of others. She questions our ability to reveal our vulnerability, to attach ourselves to new beliefs, to travel in our memories.

For me, attuned to emotional inner force fields and currents, the only truly creative human adventure is the expression of our emotional connections. A wonder, a purr, a pang, an uneasiness, your stomach lurches. You try to rationalise, but there is no place for reason.

I discover that my heart beats fast. Or let’s say it stirs easily. The rhythm of its contractions indicates my emotional state. Obvious. But a sluggish brain and an over-vigorous heart soon fall out of sync. As if they sometimes disconnect from each other. We can create with the heart, disconnected from everything else, differently.

What about magic formulas for us to love again ? What about emotions discarded for objects ? What about our sad memories for lost spaces ? Does our emotional state influence the way in which we perceive and form opinions about objects, spaces, ideas and people ?

This first issue brings together designers and artists whose approach is anchored in their perception and emotions. This more applied and subjective study sheds unexpected light on contemporary concerns. Emotions design the environment in which we live, the objects we wear and exhibit, the spaces that we grow up in and the tools that we construct with. Through sensitivity and open-mindedness, it is possible to permanently change our relationship with the world and with what we produce. It is urgent to think differently, less selfishly.

JTM is an annual publication which promotes and makes understandable approaches and know-how in art, design, architecture and scenography. Each issue is devoted to a particular thematic sentence (quotation, references, words) which guides the selection of subjects, spaces, pieces or invited people. JTM presents an annual vision of architecture and design, paying great attention to those who create with their greatest emotions and who shape the creation of tomorrow.

Since 2015 and formerly Pli Éditions, Pli office is committed to promoting and disseminating the new generation in architecture. Pli office is a publishing house and creative office that is currently expanding into the arts, architecture, design and scenography.
