Distances, an Exhibition by Romain Laprade at Yvon Lambert
Yvon Lambert and Ève Lambert present a new exhibition by photographer Romain Laprade, marking the fourth collaboration between the artist and the gallery. Following Distances in 2019, Polaroids in 2021, and Utopia in 2023, this new exhibition reflects a long-standing relationship built on trust and continuity. It offers a unique immersion into Laprade’s visual universe through a selection of recent works and iconic prints.
Romain Laprade has developed a distinctive photographic language in which light, color, and form become narrative elements in their own right. His eye captures the silent essence of spaces, stripping each image down to its purest structure. Within the exhibition space, this approach comes fully to life—through the choice of formats, the scenography, and the flow of the works—creating a contemplative rhythm that encourages a sensitive, immersive viewing experience.
The exhibition unfolds like a journey, oscillating between modernist architecture, arid landscapes, hushed interiors, and urban compositions. Stripped of all superfluous detail, each photograph conveys a sense of balance and silence, where time seems to stand still. From sun-drenched facades to quiet interiors, and vast, open landscapes, Distances invites us to slow down, to observe, and to rediscover space through a new and thoughtful lens.
« Distances Volume III »
Alongside the exhibition, Yvon Lambert Éditions publishes Distances Vol. III, a new book that extends Romain Laprade’s work in editorial form. This third volume, composed largely of recent images taken over the past two years, is enriched with carefully selected archival photographs, creating a bridge between past and present.
From sun-drenched coastlines to vast deserts, from quiet corners of cities to distant continents—from the American West to Africa, from Europe to Asia—Laprade maps out a luminous and sensitive itinerary. As in his previous volumes, light sculpts the surfaces, reveals textures, and lends an almost cinematic atmosphere to everyday scenes. The book complements the exhibition, offering the viewer an intimate continuation of the photographer’s contemplative world.
