DAVID HORVITZ
“ABANDON THE TIME”
Exhibition from March 20 to April 6, 2025
David Horvitz approaches printmaking as a conceptual process, engaging with its traditions while subverting its structures. His work explores the tension between reproduction and uniqueness. In Paris, he created a screen print titled Feed crows, but altered each piece to ensure no two were identical. For his new project, instead of using a mechanical process, he chose to handwrite each piece while maintaining the principles of editioning.
At the core of this work is the phrase Abandon the Time, first introduced in a previous project in Milan. Initially inspired by an evacuation sign, this reflection now extends to the notion of time itself: is it a rejection of modern temporal structures, or a more abstract challenge to the concept of time? By leaving the interpretation open, Horvitz invites viewers to engage with the work on their own terms.
For the exhibition, a selection of unique posters created with Sumi ink and watercolor on Japanese paper will be presented.
